A call to fit and active members!
Helen MacDonald wants to
hear from you. For many years SBW has actively supported the Wilderness Society's efforts to preserve our wilderness. It's time to start training for this 100km team event in a scenic course in the Blue Mountains. Help preserve our wilderness
through participation in this challenging but fun event. There are
some great training walks on offer. Why not sign up? You can take the
easier option of only doing 50km or go all the way with 100km.

SBW Celebrates Christmas
16 Dec 2009

A time for new and long-standing SBW members to celebrate and mingle.

|
During a balmy December night, around one hundred Sydney Bush Walkers members turned up at the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre to once again celebrate Christmas.
It was a great opportunity for members to catch up with others who they had not seen in a long while; with the combination of busy lives and so many weekly walks on, it can be a while before you happen to meet with the same people again. It was also good for Prospective members to meet other new members, as well as a variety of the long-standing members.
Drinks were supplied and everyone kindly brought a plate of food, so there was plenty of food and drinks shared around and it was an enjoyable night for all.

National Park Closures and Notice
Bush Fire Season
As Bush Fire season is fast approaching, it is important to check the National Parks website
before venturing out into our wonderful outdoors. Their site gives a
comprehensive listing of up to date track or park closures for fire or
other reasons. Oh! And don't forget to check for fire bans before
heading out for overnight trips where you might want a cooking fire.
World Rogaining Championships
20 & 21 November 2010
Time to start planning for a holiday in lovely NZ to include the 9th
World Rogaining Championships near Cheviot (120km North of
Christchurch) 20 & 21 November 2010. Perhaps the young Tiggers
should put in an official SBW Team?
Have you watched your Qs?
Several Prospectives have completed their Q requirements, but to become full members you have to put in your application. We would love to welcome you as full members, so please apply as soon as you can.
Helping New Members to Full Membership
Let's maximise the opportunity for our new members to do the Q's. When they finish a walk successfully that has the attributes of a Q, simply request the Walks Secretary to upgrade that walk to Q status. It only takes a few moments and is a great help to our new friends.
