The committees of the SBW and NRBC have recently agreed to form an unofficial affiliation between the two clubs, in order to promote interaction for the mutual benefit of both club's members. The connection allows for cross-promotion of events, walks activities and news between the clubs. Annual K to K in a day - records broken!
Sunday 5th saw an intrepid group of 14 leave Kanangra Walls at 6am,
waved off by their support crew. Their numbers grew to 15 when they
were joined by Ken S at the Coxs River (after he started at 2.30am from
Leura!). This makes Ken's 15th K2K, with David T completing his 14th.
In the group there were 9 K2K virgins who put in a great effort. 9 of
the group came in under 12 hrs and everyone was home by 12hrs40min. It
was lovely to see old friends Tony and Gail C at the gate to welcome
the walkers at Narrowneck gate and the support girls reported the
mountain bikes as a much more enjoyable way to see Narrowneck. Awesome
effort for Simon and Clare who finished in 10hrs45min. We think that
makes Clare's time a women's record that will stand for some time.
Check out the photo gallery,
not that they had much time to stop and take a photos! They were on
their feet for the entire time and only off them for 1 x 10min break at
the top of Yellow Dog.
Annual 6 Foot Track in a day - success!
The 22nd running of this trip was very successful this year. On
22nd August, we had 14 walkers including 6 Prospective Members. All
performed well on this 45 km walk with 1000 metres of climbing. Skye
O'Donnell supported us and met us at 3 places on the track with extra
drinks and food. The weather was perfect and everybody arrived at
Caves House between 5 and 6 PM. At Caves House all enjoyed the
traditional wine and cheese on arrival, the 3 course dinner in the
Grand Dining Room, a good sleep, breakfast in the Grand Dining Room and
all returned to Katoomba on a hired bus on Sunday. Check out the Photo Gallery
