SBW Constitution 2011
Dear Members,
The Committee is presenting a number of proposed amendments to the Club’s Constitution. These flow from:
- The change of the overarching Legislation, by the NSW Parliament and Government
- The changes proposed by the 2005 SBW Committee, which have been left hanging
- The current perceived need to streamline the existing SBW Constitution, in order to facilitate the operations of the Club, and to recognise current practise
Whilst there is a fair volume of “change”, we suggest that most items are in the ”minor” and “catch up” categories. However, as these matters are of lasting importance, we are implementing a comprehensive engagement process with Members, to ensure that “democracy is done, and is seen to be done”. This will include:
- Distribution of the relevant documentation via the web site, email and post
- Newsletter and Magazine articles
- Formulation of a progressive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document, now available on the website
- Conduct a face to face “Focal Session” at a Social Meeting, for Members to put any queries to the Committee
- The provision of the Vice President as a “Point of Contact (POC)” to receive queries from Members. Please email: vicepresident@sbw.org.au
- Availability of the Committee Members to answer any queries
- Scheduling of a Special General Meeting, with the required appropriate formal notice provided beforehand, to give an opportunity to all to discuss and debate the proposed changes, ahead of a formal vote by the Members
Whilst such matters may appear to be a long way from walking in the bush, they are a required part of our modern existence. As such, we do ask that Members apply their minds to the associated issues. Please raise perceived issues as soon as possible, so that Win/Win solutions can be found, ahead of the proposed Special General Meeting on Wednesday 14th September 2011 at 7pm to vote on the Changes.
